Cambodia to Attend 72nd Meeting of WHO Western Pacific

Phnom Penh: With the permission of Prime Minister Hun Sen, Minister of Health Mam Bunheng and Secretary of State in the Ministry Youk Sambath will attend the 72nd meeting of the World Health Organisation in the Western Pacific. Hosted by Japan, the meeting will be held mainly online between 25-29 October.

On Tuesday 19 October, the Ministry of Health organised a preparatory meeting to hear the report of the WHO’s representative in Cambodia, Dr Li Ailan and plan for the meeting. It was agreed that, as a member of the WHO in the Western Pacific, the Ministry of Health would outline a number of interventions and share Cambodia’s successful experiences in its fight against Covid-19, as well as developments in primary healthcare, the fights against tuberculosis and malaria, improvements in traditional medicine and sustainable health financing.

The Minister of Health took the opportunity to express his “deep gratitude” to the World Health Organisation for its technical and financial support of the Cambodian health sector.
